I get error 10003 when I set the port width to 64 using port config on port 4.

Why is this, when 64 lines are available? (setting it to 56 works fine). I am using a PC-DIO-96 and LabView 4.1 on Windows 98SE

I haven't seen this type of error before. What NI-DAQ version are you using? NI-DAQ 6.6 is the last version to offer support for LabVIEW 4. I'd recommend using 6.6 with LabVIEW 4. Also, is port 4 the only port number that gives this type of error? For example, if you use port 3 can you set the port width to 72?

Hi Raecine,

In PC-DIO-96 Properties in Driver File Details, it says the file version is 6.7.0f6.
I also can't set the port width to 64 using port 3. I have got around the problem for now by splitting up the operation into two ports, but it would be a little neater to use one. I have ordered LabView 6.0i, but it hasn't arrived yet. If that might solve the problem, I could just wait for it.

Thanks

I can't find any documenation about this type of limitation for the PC-DIO-96. How is it that you were able to get NI-DAQ 6.7 working with LabVIEW 4? This could provide some clue about what is going wrong.

Upgrading both your LabVIEW and NI-DAQ to the latest and greatest is the best solution.

However, if you want to get something going while waiting for LabVIEW 6i to arrive, I'd recommend uninstalling NI-DAQ 6.7 and installing NI-DAQ 6.6 instead (available online at http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/web/all+software). This would be the last version thoroughly tested with LabVIEW 4.0.

If you still have trouble, you might need to uninstall/reinstall both LabVIEW and NI-DAQ.

I removed both LabView and NI-DAQ, and installed LabView 6i and NI-DAQ 6.8.1, and am now using a PC-DIO-96pnp. The limitation is still there. Setting the port width works for all other multiples of 8 except 64 and 96. I tried changing the port to 0,1,2,3 and 4.

The error does differentiate between setting the port too wide for the hardware and the error for 64. Setting the width to 64 at port 0 results in error 10003: 'The value of a numeric parameter is invalid'. Setting the width to 64 at port 5 (goes beyond the physical port width available) results in error 10100: 'The requested digital port width is not a multiple of the hardware port width or is not attainable by the DAQ hardware'.
