Did you try repairing or uninstalling and reinstalling the DB toolkit?

I have the same problem with 8.2.1.  It isn't possible to select the Database Variant to data icon on the pallette.  I tried to locate it in <vi.lib>\addons\database but it almost looks like all the bits are there that is supposed to make up the vi but that it hasn't been put together. . .

Anyway I hope one of the NI engineers picks up this thread and gives us a solution.

I am also able to reproduce this!  I will file a Corrective Action Request and let you know if there is a workaround.

Below is a KB that addresses this issue and solves the problem.  I tried this out on my machine and now I can drop down a Database Variant to Data.vi.

This did not work for me in 8.5. The "_DB Variant To Data" folder is not even in the 8.5...addons\database folder. Anyone know what's up?

Hi,

Have you tried reinstalling the toolkit after you installed LabVIEW 8.5? Toolkits will install to the latest version of LabVIEW installed on your computer. Are you able to follow the instructions in the KnowledgeBase article mentioned above?

Installation. This is a sore spot. In order to install my toolkits to 8.5 with 8.2 still installed the toolkits have to be unistalled from 8.2 first. (hint - copy your entire 8.2 -current version- folder before you uninstall the toolkits to copy back when 8.5 toolkits installed). That is a long story. Yes I have it installed and everything works except this variant to data icon. I tried to copy the dir.mnu as mentioned in the knowledgebase

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/CEE92D0FB321402586257193005DF125?. Seemed this made the pallette worse - probably wrong version of dir.mnu. The folder under addons\database - "_DB Variant To Data" was missing from my 8.5 install. Copied it over from 8.2 and it still does not work.
