How to use LabView to control a thermister?

I am using LabView to measure the temperature of a microstructure.   I will be using a thermister.  First, is it possible to use LabView to measure temperature?  Second, is there a device in LabView similar to a thermister that can measure temperature?  Third, if the above is possible, how can I start off creating a VI like that in LabView?  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Well first off, how are you connecting the thermister to your computer?  DAQ card?

The data you would be getting from the thermister would be a voltage most likely.  LabVIEW can, with the appropriate hardware, interpret that voltage as a temperature, but not without the connecting hardware.

What you're proposing would be very easy using the DAQ(mx) vi's that ship with LV, however in order to propose a solution we could help you out with, we'd need to know how you're interfacing to the computer.

Yes, I will be using a data acquistion card.

You would probably have the most luck with the DAQ Express vi (Measurement I/O->NI-DAQ->DAQ Assist).

Try using MAX to get the feel of how to configure your task first, and then you can implement it with the DAQ Assist.

If you need more info, ask away!
