How to create loop to add incrementally to variable?

I want to create a for loop that will activate 1000 times. Initially I will set a variable at zero. When the VI has run 500 loops, it will begin to add 1 each time to the variable, so in the end the variable should have a value of 500.

I tried to make this VI but had a hard time with the variables; for example, setting it to an initial value. Is there an example in LabVIEW that can help me?

It seems like a fairly straight forward VI but I am having difficulties.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I couldn't open the VI, it said your version is later than my version. I'm using LabVIEW 8.5 at the moment.

here it is in LV8.5...

But that is pretty basic, so you should have a look at the free online courses on the NI website!
