How do I verify Labview can talk to my opto 22 I/O with the driver I have.

I am totally new to Labview. I am interested in utilizing Labview to do instrument control. I am trying to make sure Labview and my opto 22 I/O can communicate. I have Labview 6 evaluation package and optomux driver and necessary hardware for connection. Can anyone tell me how do I verify they can communicate before I go ahead and spend the money?

Which Opto22 unit are you trying to interface with? There are several options for communicating with the Ultimate I/O brains, any of which will work with LabVIEW 6 (I personally have written drivers which utilize 2 different methods).

Depending on which unit you're talking to, you have several options for controlling the Opto unit. Many of their newer brains have ethernet interfaces as well as the more standard serial interfaces. Personally, I generally prefer the ethernet interfaces to the serial (which are the ones used in the driver you posted).

I'm also looking for drivers or C code for the Ethernet base SNAP and B3000  OPTO22 modules!  Even if is something crude that I can get started on?  Can anybody help?  Do any of you out there, have worked with opto22 controllers using labview in the past?  Thanks, in advance....
