How can I see file details browsing with the path control?

I'd like not have to select details each time I browse for a file using a control.  I'd like it to  default to "details".

I asked the "Thumbnail" version of this Q last year in this thread.

My customer had no problem with changing to thmbnail manually so this became a non-issue for me therefore I never developed a solution for this challenge. THe link provided may help.

YIKES!  Anyone have something simpler?  I seem to remember someone having created there own file dialog, but can't find it.
