Help me! I've lost all i done today by open the same file twice!

Panic! Needs help! Just as i was finished with my project for today i accendently opened it again and when the: "The VI you have chosen, "file.vi", is already in memory and has been modified..." question appeared i ,in panic, tapped ESC! That was stupid... All i done today seems to be lost. Is there any way to get it back? Some temp folder where LabView store autosaved files? Really need help on this one! I leave the computer on over the night and hope for a positive answer. (and that no one shuts it off...) Thanks! /Micke

Well....

I don't know if this will work, but try it anyway.

Reopen the file again. If that same dialog comes up, choose VIEW, so that the one in memory stays.

In the future, I strongly recommend manually saving every ten minutes. LabVIEW does not, and probably will not, have an autosave feature. If they did, I would disable it. Saving your work should be a matter of discipline. I once lost four hours of work because I didn't save. I learned my lesson that day, let me tell you...

Good luck, and I hope the damage wasn't too bad.

As a rule of thumb, I save whenever I make any difficult changes, or on average, about every 5 to 10 minutes!

I will resist the urge to tell a lost data story.

The data is gone!

You will be able to recreate it faster today because you had practice yesterday.

I suggest making "ctrl-s" a habit. Like the guru said, every 5-10 minutes will limit your potentially lost time in the future. I also will close everything and backup the entire app folder before testing new functionality.

At www.openg.org, you can get a VI that will do automatic saves at intervals.

Amen to that practice statement. I have a lot of xxxxxxx.cpp practice.
