Get RIO Card Alias in LabVIEW 8.6

Is there any way to read the alias of a RIO card in a PXI chassis using LabVIEW 8.6?

I know it can be done using the system toolkit, but that's not available prior to 2009.  The toolkit will work for our new product which is developed in 2016 but not for our legacy product done in 8.6.

I was almost thinking that it could possibly be programmed in the 2016 version and then "saved for previous" but I have my doubts.

Anyway, any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

Seeing this link (http://www.ni.com/tutorial/8387/en/) it looks like possible to pass from LabVIEW 2016 to LabVIEW 8.6.

As 8.6 is an old version, I do not believe a function developed in 2009 will be inherited when you save from LabVIEW 2016 to a previous version to 2009.

Maybe, you can make a dll on LabVIEW 2016 to read the alias of your RIO and call the dll on your LabVIEW 8.6.
