here is the ans.....

the transducer used is cantilever straing gauges....the first 12 frets of Yamaha Pacifica have been removed and these 12 sensors are placed instead...its like wheatstone bridge...

when the player applies the force as normal nad because of the bending of string the main fret and fret after that will produce some voltage and total force applied will be a function of both those voltages...

if you are really interested in this, i will send you some imgaes of the whole apparatus....

I'd be interested to see the rig as well. As a fellow guitar enthusiast (been playing since I was 8 years old), I am really interesed to know what kind of stresses I put on it.
