Have you checked to see if there is an EOL character(s)?  It might need one or not recognize one if it is there...

Cathal, I can't take full credit as after posting my answer I realized that Dennis had suggested the same thing in his response when I saw his answer and looked at his VI, but I had not seen his VI so I hadn't realized the solution had already been posted. So, Dennis should get the stars as well.

Apologies about that, I see you're right. Couldn't open the VI at the time I checked the forum, didn't have labview
installed on the computer.
