Fieldpoint R-T as PLC replacement?

When you look at the product, FP R-T (aspecially the new blue series), seems to be the perfect PLC replacement for control/measurement applications when you are skilled at using LabVIEW.
Why then are there so little examples of such applications (on the NI site I could find only 2).
Are there issues I'm unaware of (coming from a data-acq. background) that prohits using these kind of devices for control applications compared to PLC's?

I have worked a bit with the FP-2000 and its a great tool, but it is
overkill for jobs that are suited to the ladder logic of PLCs. You can buy
PLCs starting at $99, FP is quite a bit more expensive. And there are lots
more PLC programmers available for hire than there are LabVIEW programmers,
something a customer would consider when putting together bid specs for a
job.
