Fatal Error Installation Issue required NIPathsDir undefined NIMDFDIR

I get the above error message trying to install LabView 8.2 with local administrator rights.

This error is actually due to a problem with Windows and not with NI software. There are three common causes for this error:

• The CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive letter has changed since a previous install.
• You have changed the drive letter of the hard disk that the operating system is installed on, for example, drive C.
• A registry key contains an incorrect value in a Data field.
