[FPGA] Fixed size array question

I notice that if I have a case structure (true or false) and wire a fixed size array to the same output in each case, where the fixed size of both arrays is the same, that the wire becomes a variable sized array outside of the case structure- with no dot to indicate a cast. Is this a bug? It's pretty annoying.
