Extreme Newbie Question

I have what is likely a minor problem and I was wondering if anyone here
had an answer.
I am attempting to learn labview using version 4.0 and the manuals I
found on the NIT website are for 4.1 and above. This shouldn't be much
of a problem except the tutorials mostly begin from a start up screen
that I don't seem to have. Searching through the preferences setting
hasn't helped either.
My question is: Did this screen start with version 4.1 or has it somehow
been disabled? If the latter, is there a way to enable it again?

I do believe that the tutorials, and the launch screen leading to the
tutorial were added in LV4.1.
