I just read the Application Note 041 by National Instruments, but there are still some questions I have. Perhaps you can help me: - In Labview the Exponential window is defined as y=x*exp(ai), a=ln(f)/(n-1). f is the final value.... what's that? Normally 0, isn't it???? - Each window like Hanning, Hamming etc. needs a scaling factor; probably the exponential window too.? And how can I calculate this factor?
The final value selection depends on how much damping you want to add to the signal you are windowing. More decay equates to a reduction in peak amplitudes and wider frequency peaks. A good explanation of the use of an exponential window can be found at the following link.
