I'm using an NI9214, connecting to a cRio, connected to a Router, connected to my PC, which is running Labview 2015.
I'm facing no issues with the other 8 modules on the cRio, but this additional chassis (Chassis is the right word, right?), connected via Ethernet cable tends to randomly disconnect. This is not a wiring issue, but a specific issue which occurs under specific circumstances. Once a Thermocouple is disconnected, it does not detect anything until you switch back to configuration mode, and then back again to active mode.
However, I found a temporary solution by deactivation automatic detection of open switches, yet, I'm not sure if this is a permanent solution.

Can I have a look at you LV project? And ESIs if 3rd-party EtherCAT slaves are used?
What are the errors when the disconnecting happens?
Did you connect the cRIO and NI 9144 / 9145 directly via network cable?

How often does the EtherCAT chassis disconnects?
What's the EtherCAT software version?
