Edge Counter Help for Newbie

Hi,
I am using Labview base development system with a PCI-6250 DAQ. I am very new to Labview and I'm having a lot trouble finding examples that I can work with in the base edition.

I have a sensor that sends random pulses that I want to count. I wired the sensor to the ctr0 source terminal. I used the DAQ assistant to set up and configure the counter in Labview. I am trying to use a numeric indicator to show the number of pulses counted.

Do I have to do something to "start" the counter? How do I see the output of this counter? Can anyone point me to some examples that will help me get started with Labview BASE edition?

You should be able to use the example finder in LabVIEW to get examples that will work with you. In example finder, go to "Hardware Input and Output">>"DAQmx">>"Counter Measurements">>"Count Digital Events". You can get to the LV example finder through the "Help" menu and selecting "Find Examples...".
