I am trying to implement a dynamic range compressor for audio i LabVIEW (with .wav file playback). But as I have understood the theory, doing a nonlinear operation to a signal creates new frequency components that I hear as distortion. In this example the gain reduction has to to be non linear. Does anybody know how this problem is dealt with in real-life dynamic compressors so that there is no distortion and how this can be done in LabVIEW. I am posting the whole code with this message.
