Distribution Question

I am looking for a way to either make my vi accessible from my home computer or make my vi run on my home computer without having the labview program itself installed. Is that possible with just the basic labview 5.1 development package or do I absolutely have to purchase an expansion program?

To create standalone exectuables you really will need the application
builder. There is no way around that.
Now buying a 5.1 Application Builder may be a very difficult thing to
do, as that is more than 5 years back.

Why don't you want to install LV at home? Is it that you don't want it on
your home computer or that you don't want to have to buy another copy? If
it's the latter, does the home use clause apply?

6. Home Usage Exception. Notwithstanding anything in this Agreement to the
contrary, if you are a business or other entity, the primary user of the
single computer on which the SOFTWARE is installed and used as authorized by
the applicable license may also install and use the SOFTWARE on one computer
located in such user's home; provided the use of the SOFTWARE on such home
computer is limited to work performed in the scope of such person's
employment with you and further provided, such person promptly deletes the
SOFTWARE from the home computer upon the termination of his
or her
employment with you.

Hello.

Indeed, a LabVIEW license entitles you to install the software on a work computer and a home computer, so in your case, Kura, you will not be violating any license agreements to install your LabVIEW development system on your home PC. I believe that is the best solution to your issue.

I'm sorry but I was misunderstood, but the example of my home computer was only an example. I am trying to find a way to make it so that -anyone- can use the vi from a home computer (provided that the vi is not already in use)

In this case you will need to have the LabVIEW Application Builder in order to convert the VI into an executable file.

I think Kura is asking more of how to connect to the running vi at the
lab from a home computer. How to access the data read from hardware on
another computer in another building. Am I on the right track?
