Detect a trigger

I just noticed you wrote that "the camera receives a pulse for the projector".  What is the projector and how does it fit in?  What are you using LabVIEW for if the projector in triggering the camera?

Basically, if you don't fully explain exactly what you are doing it makes it very difficult to help.  Don't just give us little details, we need the big "picture" Smiley Very Happy (Get it?  Because you're working with a camera).

Hi Niquist

I am using a DMD projector(ALP4.1), where in I insert a set of images and which i need to project. The images are projected in order every 50ms. Everytime the projector projects a new image, it send a trigger out. The images are projected on a random object.

A camera is connected to the trigger outlet through a Hirose wire. The camera UI3240CP has to acquire an image when it receives a trigger. The camera has to acquire images of the pattern projected on the object.

I am using labview to control the projector, and secondly, to inform the camera to acquire an image. Trigger only opens the camera shutter, but the acquisition must be done via labview.

I am also attaching the VI that I have worked. I am not getting the right images(images are acquired after a small time after sending trigger) of the pattern.

I hope this is good. Please let me know if you have more questions.

Hi Nachiket,

Have you confirmed with the camera manufacturer that it can accept the 5V TTL signal?

What camera bus are you using?

What NI Hardware are you using?

We have several IMAQ examples that use triggering but it will depend on what NI hardware you are using.

The problem for me is that 90% of your code isn't LabVIEW, it's a bunch of DLL calls to your proprietary camera interface. I don't know that product so I'm lost.

Try posting over in the Machine Vision forum: http://forums.ni.com/t5/Machine-Vision/bd-p/200
Name your post appropriately (e.g. "Triggering UI3240CP camera with ALP4.1 Projector?" and copy a link to this forum thread so the vision guys get all the info.  Maybe one of them has experience with your hardware.
