If I use a system string control , I cannot doulbe click it to goto the block diagram. Classic and Modern work OK.
The system numeric controls works OK.

All I can say is that I see the same behavior as you with your VI.

Also using LV 8.2.

Hello!

This was reported to R&D (# 45bc50k8) for further investigation. A possible workaround for this is to not use the auto tool, which automatically selects a tool for you, based on your location in LabVIEW.  If you use the "Position/Size/Select" tool (aka, the arrow), you can double-click on the system string control and be routed to its location on the block diagram.  Thanks for the feedback!

Have a great weekend!

Additional info on system controls.

See attachemnt.

I added System numeric 2 and system numeric 3.

System numeric 2 under visable items does not give a selection for increment / decrement if you go into properties and check the box the increment / decrement  still does not work.

Ststem numeric 3 was made from a system control but I went to the block diagram and changed it to a constant then back to a control, increment / decrement is now selectable, however the control apears to have been changed to a modern control. This is on an 8.2.1 machine. I did the same thing on an 8.20 machine and the control was still a system control.

Win XP pro (sp2)

LV8.2.1 and 8.20

The system numeric is not supposed to have increment/decrement buttons so I would consider it a bug that the properties page doesn't have this option greyed out. If you want increment/decrement buttons, you have to use the system spin control.

8.2.1 behaviour is reflected in 8.5 also.

Dennis, so wats the basic diff between system numeric & system spin controls ?

Brian, will the bug report cover all of the defects or only the changed behaviour in the latest version. Please do clarify.

But the simplest work-around would be to Rt click -->> Find Terminal. Smiley Wink
