Data Socket understending problem:

We have a local net. One of PC has an instrument: HP34401A and installed LabView6i.
Second one has only installed LabView 6i. I tried to name the first as server and use to data transmission a DataSocket Write pictogramme, but in the second Read pictogramme in Initialization *.vi. Second one find the problem: 1073807195 - OldVisa opening mistake(interfase is normal, but something with an adress). How could I correctly name the one to be usen by second. Thanks.

That error is a VISA error which ussually means you are incorrectly addressing the VISA resource. If you open up the VISA Interactive control (NIvisaic.exe) in the VXIpnp directory of the machine that is directly communicating with your HP instrument, you should be able to see how to correctly address the instrument with VISA and test the communication a little. Make sure you are not opening multiple references to the same device by using the older VISA Open inside a loop. Make sure the communication with the device is working properly on the machine before you start trying to send commands to it remotely through DataSocket. Incidentally, there is a remote GPIB example program that you might find useful on the developer zone site.
