I wanted to know If Labview supports the all poll types in DNP3. Also, I have an outstation device that is connected to my PC via ethernet. I would like to know If I need a DNP extension package or can Labivew inherently support DNP3?

Hi Saurav_Patel,
Perhaps you could find out more about it here:
Introduction to DNP3
http://www.ni.com/white-paper/11863/en/
http://sine.ni.com/psp/app/doc/p/id/psp-960/lang/en
You'll need to check from your NI MAX under software if you have DNP3 driver. I believe you need the NI LabVIEW Driver for DNP3 Master and Outstation Support: http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/209092
If you plan to purchase it, do check the compatibility chart here: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/377EDC4553325CD386257A1E00729F5C
Hope it helps
Warmest regards,

Hello MeenaK,
Can you please elaborate on what you meaning by using DNP3 for software updates? Are you referring to distributing updates to other comupters or something else?

Ryan

Hi Ryan,
Thanks for your reply.
I mean, can we use DNP3 to update software/firmware on remote computer? Is it possible to update any existing software of outstation system using DNP3?
As per my understanding, Master Computer can upload software files on outstation using File Transfer and then the software can be upgraded. Am I correct?

Hi Kaplesh,
I'm not sure if what you're looking to do is within the capabiliteis of LabVIEW & DNP3, but I'd encourage you to post your question on the Industrial Communications forum page. The Industrial Communications forum is dedicated to industrial and embedded communication protocols, including DNP3, and it's actively monitored by NI Developers who are familiar with DNP3 and work with it on a regular basis. If you post your question there, you'll likely get a better response than you will here on the LabVIEW forum.
