DMM Auto Delay Trigger

All I can find on the DMM Auto Delay trigger function is, when set (-1), the DMM sets the "Appropriate" delay.  Not too descriptive.

Is there some better description of the Auto Delay function and how it operates?

I'm currently using:

PXI-4071 with a PXIe-2527 Mux and performing resistance measurements, if that helps.
