DAQmx Error: -200428

I tried to run my application on the PDA, and it works for one iteration. Then it displays an error message: Value passed to the Task/Channels in control is invalid. Error code: -200428.

After looking at the solutions on the website, I still cannot figure out what's wrong with the application. I think it's the way my task is configured. I am using NI 6004 card on a Pocket PC 2003 device. Right now I have two custom tasks on the task list: analog input (enable all 4 channels) and digital io (enable all 4 channels), which I created on the NI-DAQmx Base Configuration Utility. I deleted all the previous imported tasks for my device. Would that contribute in causing the error? Now I am unable to retrieve any tasks for Dev5: NI 6004 Pocket PC 2003. I already looked at the default task lists from the NI DAQmx --> examples --> Labview PDA 8.0, but none of them are compatible with Dev5, so I still could not retrieve those tasks I deleted before.

Hello sujiptoc,

I'm assuming you are working in LabVIEW PDA 8.0 and using NI-DAQmx Base 2.0.1, but correct me if I'm wrong.  Make sure you are accessing the NI-DAQmx Base Task Configuration Utility through LabVIEW under the Tools menu, rather than outside of LabVIEW through the start menu.  I would start by making sure you can run the LabVIEW 8.0 PDA examples (found under Start > All Programs > National Instruments > NI-DAQmx Base > Examples > LabVIEW 8.0 PDA).  To use these examples with a NI CF-6004, you will need to load the CFDAQExamples.cfg task list into the NI-DAQmx Base Task Configuration Utility through LabVIEW.  With the NI-DAQmx Base Task Configuration Utility open, click Import Task List and navigate to C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.0\examples\daqmxbase\PDA and select CFDAQExamples.cfg.  If the NI CF-6004 has a different device number than that configured in the CFDAQExamples.cfg, the NI-DAQmx Base Task Configuration Utility should automatically assign the task to the proper device number.  Let me know if you can get these examples running first, and then we can work on configuring custom tasks.

Hi

I need help please, with a small problem, I'm working with NIDAQmx Base, and I develop a simple acquisition program with the USB6008, and the program on my PC runs properly, but now that I have my PDA  I get the error -200428, how do I to resolve it?, I doubt where the PDA will take the task I need for my acquisition. To be more clear, how do i create a task on my PDA to define the acquisition channels?

I appreciate any help that you could provide me.

Hi Teresa,

On a pda target you cannot use the DAQmxbase Create Task or Create Channel VI. In order to setup your data acquisition task you must use the NI-DAQmx Base Task Configuration Utility. This utility can be found in LabVIEW under Tools >> NI-DAQmx Base Task Configuration Utility. You can create your PDA DAQ Tasks in this utility. Some more information on this can be found in the KnowledgeBase article, NI-DAQmx Base Task Configuration Utility Does Not Show PDA DAQ Device. Once you have your tasks setup  in the utility you can reference them by wiring a string constant with the name of the task  into the task/channels in terminal of the DAQmxbase Start Task VI. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for your time answering my questions. I have follow your instructions. However when I connect the usb6008 on my PDA(fujitsu siemens loox 830)  and run the aquisition program, it shows me the error: Visa GetProperties Error code: -1073807343. Furthermore another question,  why when i connect the USB6008 on my PDA, the led´s card blinks faster and weaker than the PC? is it normal?.

Hi Teresa,

Error -1073807343 is caused when no USB device is connected to the PDA. This information can be found in the KnowledgeBase article, Errors with USB and NI-DAQmx Base on PDA. It may be that your PDA’s USB port does have hosting capabilities needed to control the USB-6008. Your PDA must have the ability to act as the master USB device. I was not able to find any technical specifications for your model PDA.  In addition to this the PDA must be able to provide enough power for the USB-6008. Typically the USB-6008 uses 80 mA. The maximum it uses is 500 mA. This information is in the NI USB-6008/6009 User Guide and Specifications.

Hi Nathan,

I understand your explanation and thank you, but I think that the problem could be the drivers because it is assumed that my pda have Host capabilities, I attached file of the specifications, if you can give it a look please. Furthermore in this file indicates that the PDA suports devices to 100mA.  I have trying the host capabilities of my PDA's USB with pendrives (USB hard drive) and it  has accepts it, i could read the data. I t is dificult to know exactly why happen this error to me. I will keep trying to solve it.
