Control a For Loop with Time

I would like a For Loop that runs for a distinct period of time. I would like to use a time at the control input (where you determine the number of loops), and during that time I would like the for loop to repeat every second for a specified period of time. Is this possible?

something like this might work - the random number is your data operation - as long as your operation takes less than 1 second it might be helpful
