Connecting to 8714ES via ethernet

I would like to be able to use an HP/Agilent 8714ES network analyser in LabVIEW, connecting to it via a crossover ethernet cable.  However, I cannot get the analyser to show up in MAX.

The connection to the analyser is sound - I am able to access the analyser's "internal" web page via my web browser, and get screen grabs, send SCPI commands, etc. successfully.

I am an absolute novice, and have only been using LabVIEW since the start of this week. Any comments would be welcome. Thanks.

Chances are slim that a none-NI device will show up in MAX.
Why do you want it to turn up in MAX anyway?

You will have to SCPI commands to talk to the device.

You're right, ideally I would connect to it using my PXI-8232 GPIB card.  However, I have not been able to get this to work.

Using an ethernet cable is the only way I can find that works, to get data to and from the analyser.
