I am attempting to learn LabVIEW NXG through the online training. In the first or second module there is a segment called "Configuring Simulated Hardware Demonstration". Here it asks you to click on the "HARDWARE" tab to configure the simulated hardware. However there is no HARDWARE tab on my screen. I suspect this is because I don't actually have any NI hardware connected to my PC. Unfortunately based on my project's schedule it will probably be quite a while before I do have any hardware connected. Is there some way for me to enable the HARDWARE tab (or otherwise configure the simulated hardware) in this circumstance so that I can do the online training with the simulated hardware?
I don't have NXG personally but if you open NI-MAX you can set up simulated instruments that LabVIEW can use there, and I assume NXG shares the same instrument pool.
Try opening NI-MAX, then right-click "Devices and interfaces", then when it asks you what to add choose "Simulated NI-DAQmx Device or Modular Instrument" and go from there. Then see if the needed option appears.
