Comparing EXT

I ran across an unusual problem. I can't seem to compare EXT numbers with
and I32 number using the >,< >0, <0 vi's. All results are unreliable. I've
tried to convert the EXT number to an I32 number. When I convert, the
number always becomes a zero. I get the same result when I try to convert
using the string vi's. If anyone knows of this or knows a workaround, I'd
like to read the reply. Thanks
