CompactRIO Generation & Acquisition Parameters

Hi.
I'm trying to make a generation and an acquisition with compactRIO and i want to know some informations plz try to give me as more as possible:

Generation
1-i've seen on the forum some exemple of generation in which the data generated by a sine generator  is converted by a Convert to Binary and then the data converted are sent to the FPGA for the memorization. I want to know what are the parameters of this block and how to set them...i've seen that they are LSB weight and offset...i suppose that i need of them to calibrate the NI modules but why?

Acquisition:
2-i've seen that in some example after the FIFO READ people put an decimate 1D array and then a Split Number why they do this?i mean i know that the FIFO is of 32 bit but why if for example i have 8 channel to acquire they use only a decimate 1D array with a dimension of 4 and not of 8?
and why they then make the split? i suppose that the cRIO see the module as of 2 array of 16  (each channel of 8 bit) bit but i'm not sure of this.

Both for acquisition and generation
3- Period of FPGA...is it the period of sampling?

tnx to all for the explanations

I've another question:

what is the depth that you set in the FIFO?

HI Martin,

here attached you have some information related to your questions:

1) 'On properly calibrated cRIO I/O modules, you can programmatically obtain the calibration coefficients from the on-board EEPROM. In order to do so, use an I/O property node on the LabVIEW Real-Time or Windows host VI. See the two documents in the related links section for examples and information about using the calibration coefficients.'
