Chubby Tunnels?

The tunnels around structures in LV are way too small. It makes it very
difficult to wire. Does anyone know if there is a preference setting to
may the tunnels bigger and chubby?

Also, I cannot seem to delete a front panel terminal on the diagram. Do
you always have to delete the corresponding control on the panel? Is
there some perference option to change this?

Brendan,

There is no preference setting to modify the way the size of the in/output
tunnel on the diagram. I'mafraid you'll have to use tham as tey are. If you
are having trouble wiring to them, I can make a couple of suggestions though: 1)
When you move the wiring tool over the tunnel, it wi
ll flash when you are over
top. Wait for it to begin to flash before clicking and you should have better
luck wiring to them. 2) The only other option would be to decrease you screen
resolution but that will only force you to scroll around the diagram more.

As far as the terminals go, you are correct that they can only be deleted from
the front panel. They cannot be deleted from the diagram. If you want to
delete a terminal you can find it on the FP easily by double clicking its
terminal on the diagram. LV will locate it in the FP and highlifght it for you.
Then all you have do is press delete.

Not sure about LV5.1 but there is nothing in LV5.0 that will do what you
want. I agree they could be bigger, but at least you can move them.

Again, not sure about LV5.1 but this is the way all previous versions
operate. There is no preference setting to change this.

If you can find the Wish List on the NI site, you could ask for these.

Can help with the first but...

It just goes to show how cool LTR is. For those of you that don't
know, LTR stands for LabVIEW Technical Resource. It is a quarterly
journal that you can subcribe to. Check out the website at
www.ltrpub.com, look in the "Tips and Tricks" section and you will
find how to do this.

Add "copyDel
eteFPDCOFromFPTerm=True" to your labview.ini file.

This undocumented ini setting will allow you to delete front panel
objects from the diagram. Now that I've gotten used to being able to
do this, it really bugs me when I get on a machine without this set.

Hi Brendan, Nice to cyber with you!
Maybe this could help you,
To delete a front panel terminal you can use this trick:
Doublen click over the terminal in the Diagram and then you will see
automatically this terminal selected in the Front Panel. Then only push
Delete in your keyboard. (It saves a lot time).
Bye.

There would be no reason for having a front panel control without a cooresponding diagram representation of it. Think of a real hardware front panel with a switch mounted on it. The diagram would be like looking at that panel from the other side, with the back of the control obviously visible. You can configure the recent versions to allow deleting the control from the diagram side. What reason are you looking to be able to delete the diagram representation while leaving the control on the front panel?

OOPS! I guess I was distracted by the discussions here at NIWeek2007 and hit the right arrow rather than the next page button. Don't think I have done that before, at least not without noticing that it was 1990, rather than 2007. Well, we will answer your questions, even if it is 17 years late! It also explains the problems with deleting controls!!
