Can't programmatically add annotation to XY Graph?

Running NI LabVIEW 2023. I am trying to programmatically add an annotation to an XY Graph. The end goal is to label maxima. I checked the example provided by National Instruments, which used waveforms instead of XY plots. I tried to mimic it in the VI attached, but I get no results. No errors and yet no changes to the graph. Any ideas why?

My mistake. This came from a misunderstanding of how annotation lists were structured, and that I had to manually create the annotation on the XY graph, that would house the text I wanted to store. That annotation could then be indexed and edited. Sorry!
