Can't locate the Runtime Engine?

Hi,

I create all my VIs in this computer and it contains these NI products: LabVIEW 8.0 and DSC Module 8.0 (and more, but I don't really use them).

In the client computer it contains only LabVIEW Runtime 8.0.1 and DSC RTS 8.0.

I've created a VI here that simply create a database (it's for the client computer). I only use a "Create Database.vi" and wire the inputs. I've put this VI in a project and I've build an executable. I've try my .exe here and it's working well.

The problem happens in the client computer. I don't know if it's because it's only DSC Runtime there, but I have error and it doesn't execute my executable. I put a bitmap of the error in attachment. It says that I need LabVIEW Runtime 8.0 or higher and it can't locate the runtime engine. Is there something I need to know about building an executable with DSC module 8.0? In My Application Proprieties, in the Advanced tab, I've check the Enable Enhanced DSC Runtime support. Is it the only thing different from a normal executable? I guess yes, because it's working in this computer. So why it can't locate the LabVIEW Runtime? Do I need to put my application.exe file somewhere else?

Hello Stephanie,

Have you tried to made an installer? for the project, This will boost the size to 70-100 MB but in later installer you can deselect to install the RuntimeEngine (RTE) and limit the file size.

Try installing the LabVIEW DSC 8.0.1 Update on the computer running the DSC RTS.

Ok now my little exe works.

I've only unchecked the "Enable Enhanced DSC Runtime support" option in the application proprieties.

With the DSC RTS only, is it possible to run VIs with DSC icons in it? I means, am I obligated to build an executable if I have only DSC runtime?

Someone where I work told me that with version 7.0, he wasn't obligated to build an executable. Is it the same thing with 8.0 version? I can't run my VI now because when I open it, it says that it can't load the "Create Database.vi".

Peachy hello.

The feature you speak about is no longer supported in LabVIEW DSC RunTime 8.0. The Runtime only allows you run executables. Sorry for the inconvinience.
