one help me how to connect a stepper motor and solenoid to a pc so that I can monitor the responses, maybe by plotting up the graph.I know that I need to use labview but how I can do it since I'm very new to this environment. can labview plot up the graph? The could be running in windows 98 and labview could be the latest version. This system configuration is undecided yet but just assume that have this.

What I want to see in my pc is that when the motor rotates the anchorage and solenoid used apply impulse to the achorage, it should measure the responses and display in the pc by means of plotting a graph.

You will then need a Data Aquisition Card to aquire the data. Depending on the type of transducer you have you may also need some Signal Conditioning.

If you wish to run the stepper motor from LV you will want to use our Motion Control and Motor Drives

Currently we have an impulse device to measure the vibration and could be connected to pc via signal conditioning device.
You mention about controlling the motor from labview,
can I do the same for the solenoid? If so, how I can implement it?
Do I also need slot cards for controling the motor and solenoid as well? Does NI have this type of boards? If not how these are connected to a pc?

Thank you.

There are many ways of controlling the motor, we do have a line of motion control products which allow you to have fine controll over your motor from LabVIEW. The system involves a PCI card, and an amplifier. You could use one of our amplifiers or a 3rd party amp to run your stepper.

As far as controlling the selenoid is concerned, to my knowledge you would essentialy be interested in switching the current to the selenoid, correct? This is most easily achieved by using a relay. If you already have some signal conditioning equipment you will find relay modules you can use.

Hope this helps,

You are right about using the relay but
i'm also curious whether I can use Labview to control the force of soleniod? (as same as for the motor), if so how I can do this?
Does NI provide the PCI card for this purposes?
I haven't got any signal conditioning for solenoid since this is a new implementation.

Hope you can advice on this,

Hamish
