Can a global variable be set to a boolean value in LV3.1.1?

Solved!

Can a global variable be set to a boolean value in LV3.1.1? I can do it in LV 8.0, but 3.1.1 which I need because of instrumentation factors is giving me trouble.

Any suggestions from long-time users?

Well, I'm a long time user, but that's going back quite a while. Smiley Very Happy

A global variable is basically a VI without a block diagram, so you should be able to place a Boolean control on the global variable just as you can place a numeric control. Booleans were treated differently back then, but it probably won't affect what you're doing. Are you saying you've tried, and you can't place a Boolean control on it? I honestly don't recall this being the case, but if it is, you can always use the functional global construct, which is what we did before global variables were introduced.

Why do have to run 3.1.1? You mentioned  instrumentation factors. Tell us about those problem. Labview 3.1.1 was designed for Windows 3.11 if I remember correct. I was introduced to Labview 3.1 on a windows 3.11 computer. And I am quite satisfied that my first attempt to produce labview code not so easily can be opened longer. I know some still insist on running windows NT but windows 3.11 that is spooky

Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted
(Sorry no Labview "brag list" so far)

I'm on a Mac; we stopped developing at 3.1.1 because 4.0 required a re-write of over 100 VI's.  We're in the process of upgrading to 8 but i need to gather data on my old computer and data card.
