Can I export descriptions & tip strips?

If possible, I'd like to export all the context sensitive help descriptions & tip strips I've written to document my various controls. Some of the same text could be used in our printed documentation.

Is there a way to export all the user help info embedded in a vi without lots of cutting and pasting?

You can do this programmatically using property nodes. The Tip and Description are both properties for any controls. Take a look at this example.

Great idea! I'll try it today.

Thanks!

I tried blimpie boy's suggestion. It is/was a great idea. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite work for my application. My used interface has almost all the controls placed on different pages of a tab control. The reference created by the panel and control property nodes is only for the top level controls. So I get references for my tab control, but not references to the (many) controls embedded in the tab control.

Is there any way to wire the reference to get access to the individual controls on the tab control?

Thanks again, Craig

I have the same problem getting the descriptions of individuals controls inside a cluster.

Anyone have a resolution

Yes, there is a way. See the attached extended version of blimpie boys original VI.

Unfortunately I am lock into Labview 6 for this project and cannot open the file.

Is it a LABVIEW 7 capability .. or can you describe the solution (or save in 6.1)

see attachment, the solution should not be LV 7 specific. But it's easier to see the VI than to describe it...
