Bluetooth Packet Monitor

Does anybody know if there is a piece of software similar to a serial port sniffer that will allow the Bluetooth comms to be monitored between LV and a piece of hardware? I am using the Microsoft Stack and the standard BT functions.

Thanks in advance.

I wonder if NI I/O Trace could do that for you?

Are you communicating with Bluetooth via NI-VISA?

Thanks for the suggestion but that does not work.

Has anybody else found some hardware/software that can capture the BT comms? I do no want to sniff a remote process, I need to check what is being sent out via a local USB BT dongle.

Thanks

Hi ssk,

I believe that it is possible to 'sniff' Bluetooth connections.  I have seen it done before to acquire RAW data intercepted between a PC transceiver and a mobile phone as a test in a lab.  I believe that was done using a protocol analyzer and a normal USB Bluetooth dongle.  I think there were some specific requirements for the Bluetooth adaptor used and it was also done under Linux.  I think you need a Cambridge Silicon Radio chipset and BC4 External or Flash memory.  ROM adaptors won't work.

You'll also need a few pieces of software:

bccmd (to modify the dongle firmware)

dfutool (to flash and update the firmware)

and 'Frontline Test' (I think that's the name - I could be wrong though)

I'm sorry I can't be more help than that but its been rather a long time since I saw it done last.  I should think a quick Google would bring up the information you're after.
