Attempting to load labview eval; can't install;

Message says a copy of the eval software was previously installed on the system. But, the old eval software was removed incorrectly. There is no icon, no directory or files that can be located which relate to the old eval installation.

What must be done to install the eval from the new disk?

Ah, yes....don't you just love Windows?

If you have backed up your registry (not that windows makes any allowance to do this) you can just restore the registry from before this installation.

I suspect you don't have a backup registry (I don't either, don't know how to do it) then you will have to go through the registry manually to remove any calls to LabBVIEW or National Instruments. Simple go the the start menu, choose "Run", and enter "regedit". Once the registry comes up, simply do a search for each keyword ("LabVIEW" and "National Instruments") to find keys that may be causing the problem.

I have tried to get registry information from NI previously on these types of entries, and they seem to be somewhat of a mystery. So you are probably on you
r own.

Good luck.

If you can not find any reference to LabVIEW in the Add/Remove Programs utility, then you will defnitely need to go through and remove the registries. However, you definitely want to make a back-up first... just in case. Open up regedit and select Registry>>Export Registry File... Now give this a name and it will save a backup for you just in case something goes wrong.

Then do just as LabVIEWguru said and remove references to LabVIEW. The first place to look is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>>SOFTWARE>>Nationa Instruments>>LabVIEW. Make sure those are gone and then try installation again. If it still doesn't work, let me know because there's a last resort.
