Hi Robert, once you are accepted into the program and download the LV Platform beta version, would that version simply replace your current licensed LV version to do all your development on? What about toolkits, modules, etc? Could you please explain some more?

Thanks,
Sima

National Instruments recommends a parallel installation - LabVIEW 8.6 will install to a versioned folder be default.  While you can choose to do normal development work on the beta, and we expect the beta license to run until after the shipping version is available, remember that this is beta software.  While we try very hard to ensure that no VI corruption bugs make it into a shipping beta version that CAN happen.  It can also happen that some change will make a VI saved in the beta version not be able to either be saved back to the previous version or saved forward to the release version.  Always take extreme care and make a back-up copy of all code you intend to test on the beta version.

Robert

Colleagues,

I agree with Robert, take extreme care. For example, building installer in 8.5 will be impossible after installing 8.6 on the same PC (because some files in <Program Files>\National Instruments\Shared\MDF\Bin\ will be replaced)
I will submit this as a bug.

best regards,

Andrey.

Please note that this is a public forum and no discussion of the beta should take place here.

Yes.  Both Mac and Linux are included in the beta.

Will the Mac version have Play Waveform and MathScript?

Will it fix window drawing problems like this one?

The only way to find out what is in the beta is to apply and then be accepted. Discussion of what is and what's not cannot be discussed here.

Is there any chance that NI will / can fine tune the applicaiton builder to generate a smaller installer?  I don't mind the runtime engine getting larger, but with 60+MB installer for a simple project, say 1+1=2, is just ... (you put your word here).
