Advantech Adam 5000

I'm new to LabVIEW 8.2 and am trying to get Advantech's Adam 5000 TCP/IP with the 5018, 5024, 5068 and 5017H modules to talk.  Any suggestions?

Hi,

The first place to look when working with third party instruments is idnet. There doesn't seem to be any instrument drivers for these models. The other option is going thru the Visa Driver Development Wizard. This creates a driver for you device for LabVIEW and thru this you are able to communicate using VISA. This tutorial will show you how to setup a PXI/PCI driver but a similar process is used to create an either net application.

I believe this model supports Modbus/TCP.  There are Modbus libraries that you can download from this site that support Modbus/TCP.

Just out of curiosity did you manage to get the adam-5000 to work with labview, we are starting to use labview with some existing daq equiptment similar to yours and are experiencing similar problems. Thanks

Yes.  We use the Modbus interface but one of the guys here managed to put together a .NET application which is in place and also working fine.  My next project will use NI equipment. If you've got decent expertise with interfaces to DAQ devices you shouldn't have too much trouble but then again, I didn't do the .NET program and if I remember correctly the documentation was very, very weak.
