Accessing VIs over Samba-file permission

Hello,

I am running Labview 8.5.1 on OpenSUSE 10.3 on a few computers connected to a windows network using samba.  A server on the network hosts a very large number of VIs (thousands); in Windows users are accustomed to simply double clicking on VIs and having them launch and import all the necessary dependencies automagically.  I don't have the permissions to change the permissions of the VIs on the local machines; is there a convenient way of setting up the network so that users don't have to rip every VI and its dependencies off the server individually?

Hi Kans,

I want to be sure that I understand the setup: You have a network made up of Windows and Linux computers.  Where are the VIs stored?  Where are you trying to access the VIs?

Is it when a LabVIEW VI is stored on a Windows computer and you try to open it on a Linux computer through the Samba connection that you're not able to load the VI due to the dependencies not being able to load through the Samba connection?

When you refer to not having permissions to change the permissions of the VIs, what are you referring to?  (You don't have the ability on your Linux computer to change the Windows permission settings for the VIs?  ...What are the permissions set to on Windows and Linux?)
