AVI-file with labview

Hi everyone!

I am currently working with labview 6i and IMAQ vision.
My program grabbs pictures from a Grabbercard and saves them as jpg-
files. Because i placed this function in a loop, i am basicaly grabbing
sequences of single pictures.
My question now is, is it possible with labview to create an avi-movie
from this sequence of single pictures after i saved them or even
better, can i somehow save them right away as an avi-movie that is
appended everytime my program grabbs a new picture?

Thank you for your help!

Martin Klein

I did something similar and ended up getting a java programmer to write me
java app which converts jpeg files to a quicktime movie or avi file.

Thanx. I found out that it's actualy not hard when you have IMAQ vision and
the avi.dll.
I have both now and it works perfectly.

Hell Bharathindian,

I would suggest taking a look at the 'Sequence and Save to AVI' as well as 'Grab and Save to AVI' examples that are shipped with LabVIEW. You can access these examples in LabVIEW by clicking on Help >> Find Examples. Under the categories to browse, go to Hardware Input and Output >> IMAQ >> File Input and Output to find these examples.

I hope this helps.

Thanks VIVEK_N,
One of my problems is solved.Let me explain my full objective.pls help me how to go about it.My objective is to find the centroid of four markers, present in an image     individually .This i find by making the user click on a point on the four markers, i create four rectangular subsets of the original image and find centroid of each image and then superimpose them on the full imge after making coordinate shifts required. But this is fine for a static image..Now i need to implement it dynamically for a video in which each frame will have different centroid due to shift in marker position. Now , how do i track the centroid as the video is runnin by timin the program in such a way the centroid keeps shifting as frames run..pls help..

Im attachin what i hav done with static images

Hello krispiekream,

There are a couple of things that you would need to acquire images and process them using LabVIEW:

1) A camera
2) Vision hardware that works with this camera and that can be used with LabVIEW
3) NI Vision software that enables LabVIEW to communicate with this hardware

I would strongly suggest taking a look at these links:
1) Choosing the Right Camera Bus
2) NI Vision Hardware
3) NI Machine Vision Software

This should give you an idea of where to start. I hope this helps.
