ATLAS Advanced Telemetry Linked Acquistion System

Maclaren produce the telemetry system for F1 teams (see link) http://www.mclaren.com/appliedtechnologies/products/item/atlas/

I understand that there are serious issues in running their Atlas software & LabVIEW on the same machine.

Now this could be serious or just something that has not been looked into properly (ie: port clash)  but it is putting LabVIEW in a negative light.

Is anyone familiar with this issue and what the problem is?

Provide some details as to what is going wrong.

How can it put LabVIEW in a negative light when you haven't told how LabVIEW is interacting with the system or what the problems are?

Where did you get that information from? What sort of 'serious issues' did they mention? Do you have any evidence/links regarding such a problem? What makes you assume that the problem is because of LabVIEW rather than Atlas?

Obviously if you have two pieces of software contending for the same resource (that could be a piece of hardware, or things like CPU/memory resources), then you will likely have problems - but that's irrelevant to LabVIEW and would just as easily apply to applications written in other languages. Hence the questions 🙂

The information is from an F1 Team we work with

Serious Issues mean, in their experience LabView has been unable to run properly on a system running their ubiquitous and most important software for Telemetry data.

Im not assuming the problem is LabView and I have yet to look properly into the issues raised, but LV is second place here and easier to investigate first.

The question is initally posted to see if someone has had any specific experience with this, which may speed up the resolution plus put a stop to any negative views of LV.

Are they not able to run LabVIEW development system correct or are they not able to run YOUR program (Programmed in LabVIEW) ?

LabVIEW is a developing programming IDE. You can make programs with LabVIEW that can do almost anything, also bad things. It all depends on how your design and develop your program.

It is hard to tell anything about the reason for the thing that this F1 team is experiencing without any details about what YOUR program is doing and how it is designed.
