Hello,

Does anyone has a driver for the HP53310A (Time Domain Analyzer) that can obtain a screen shot?

Have you checked the instrument drivers available here?

Hello,

Yes, I have looked at the NI website, I did not get a "go get screen shot vi". So I will be getting the programmers manual to understand what the commands aare and make my own. When I do I will post it on this forum.

Hi Kaspar,

Getting a screen shot varies on the different instrument.  Some of which are easier to simply get the data and recreate the waveform either on a Labview Graph or within an Excel Spreadsheet etc.

However, if you want to get the actual screen shot, it may involve some "tricks".  The basic steps would be:
getting the spectrum
saving the spectrum as an image on the drive
with agilent, you may have to assign an image id (number) to the filename to allow a transfer
browse for the image name or id
transfer the image as a binary file to your PC.

As I said, this is a basic description.  It depends how easily your instrument will allow you to implement how it will actually be done.
I find that transferring the data is much easier.  And to save a screen capture, I save the Graph image from Labview.

Hello,

I am working in a enviornment where we are making the transition from a manual environment to a automated test environment. Being able to automatically capture a screen shot from test equipment will help to smooth the transition. Also capturing a screenshot will also contain other setting info about the instrument in addtion to the waverform shape.

Kaspar

Does your requirement allow you to save screenshots from a Labview Graph?  Or does it have to be the screen of the instrument?

Ok.  So let's focus on that.  I understand as we had a client back in 2001 who had the same requirement.  I had to do it using a R&S SA..  Before the days when instrument screen capture was an easier thing... 😉

From my original list, how far did you get?

Hello,

I have ordered the programmers manual for the instrument, it is not available on-line for HP, it is a discontinued instrument.  When the programmers manual arrives I will go to the local drugstore for a bottle of murine and see if I can find what command(s) are needed to obtain a screenshot. Stay tuned for further details.

Kaspar

You can actually find the manuals here:
http://www.home.agilent.com/agilent/techSupport.jspx?pid=1000001397%3Aepsg%3Apro&pageMode=MN&cc=US&l...

HP sold off their instrument stuff and spun off Agilent a long time ago.

The programming information is interspersed in the Operating Manual. I have not looked at it in detail, but it's possible it's similar to the procedure I had shown another poster with another instrument (a Rhode & Shwartz) here.
