Saving plots programmatically ?

MathScript (started using it this morning) is a rich plotting environment but strangely I cannot seem to find any way of saving the plots to a pdf file. (The matlab print command is not supported). The plots look much much much nicer than the ugly excuses for plots from XYGraph or other front panel objects (that I cannot in good conscience inflict on the people I present to. The measurement hardware is Linux based so any ActiveX based links to our Matlab installation on the same machine is not an option.

Point and click is not an option because many measurements (mine included) produce a lot of plots.

Is there a workaround for this strange omission ? I can only guess that this was not a technical decision (since the functions are available on the plot window) but something perhaps forced by MathWorks.

Hi m-s,

Unfortunately, programmatic saving of plots in MathScript is not currently supported but that is something we wish to provide in a future version.

Thanks,

K Scott

Thanks.

Was there any technical reason for not including it (given that the entire infrastructure needed for it is either present on the plot window) or somehow implemented in matlab ?

There is no particular reason why we don't have this feature. This is the first customer request we have had for this functionality so we will evaluate this feature for a future release.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will keep you updated.

m-s,

You mention the MathScript plots looking nicer than the Front Panel graphs in LabVIEW. I don't know if this will actually help you with your project, but you may be interested to know that "under the hood" the plots that MathScript shows are actually implemented with the exact same Front Panel graph control that you can find in the LabVIEW palette.

Hope that helps,

Kevin C.

Well, that is interesting to know, and given the rich saving options available there, makes the omission all the more strange 🙂

Is there any other option to show plots, when I run an application?

This was cross-posted in the LabVIEW forum.  Please follow the discussion there.

Hi

I just downloaded the new 2010 evaluation version (our University will do an update sometime in September, after the financial year is over).

Has the print command been implemented for MathScript yet ?
