I am trying to communicate with a FCO510 Micromanometer from my PC using labVIEW.  On opening the VISA test panel, the measurement and automation explorer gives me the followig error:

Error opening resource:

ASRL3::INSTR

VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF0072)  The resource is valid, but the VISA cannot currently access it.

Something else holding it open?  Forget to close the reference last time you used it, or did you abort a VI before it had a chance to close the session?

Make a VI that rips through an array of COM ports and closes the VISA session, then try it again.

Did you even try a search for that error code? This has come up MANY times. And the answer always is: make sure you do not have any other program running that is using the serial port. The operating system does not allow more than one program access to a serial port.
