Hi,

I have a trouble to connect Ohaus balance (AV2101) to PC via RS 232 interface. In Hyper terminal, no signal is received from the balance though all the settings (baud, parity..) are set the same as that in the balance. In Labview, I downloaded the driver from this forum but when running the VI, Error-1073807339 occurs-VISA timeoiut expired before operation completed.

I am total new to Labview. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Just like the suggestions in the almost countless other threads related to the exact same error, you need to verify that the cable is the correct type. Check the manual to see if a null modem or straight through is required.

Hi Dennis

The cable is just the normal RS232 (male to female) type. What confuses me is that Hyper terminal cannot respond to the balance even I adjust the settings on both Hyper terminal and balance. Unfortunately Ohaus manual has no useful information for this problem. Thanks.

There is no such thing as a ' normal' serial cable. As I said, there are two main types. Determine the type you have and try the other. Contact ohaus for details.
