Virtual GPIB Instruments vi

Is it possible to build a virtual GPIB instruments vi for example

which will emulate say a oscillocope ( for example tecktronix TDS 3020/ or Lecroy waverunner ) and will respond to command and send the data exactly like a real oscilloscope.

I am asking as then it can be very usefull to teach Labview in the class as otherwise you need a real instruments
to run the vi that control GPIB isnstruments which often is not easy to get.

There is a shipping example (up through 7.1, anyway) called Two Channel Oscilloscope. It generates a sine and/ a square wave in software and simulates the capture of each. The front panel is a generic one but reproducing an actual one is possible. You can also use a DAQ board as a scope. There are a couple of shipping examples of those but they were written with Traditional DAQ and I don't know if they made it into the latest set of examples. Lastly, IVI drivers can be set for simulation mode. The Tek 3012 has an IVI driver and there are some LeCroy ones as well.

Dear Dennis

Thank you very much for your reply.

Specially the IVI driver works great and I also got it for Lecroy waverunner.

Thanks again for the reply.

with best regards

Ray
