VISA error code: 0x3FFF0077

I have the following VISA Warning in MAX:

VISA error code:
0x3FFF0077 (VI_WARN_CONFIG_NLOADED)

Description of error:
viOpenDefaultRM returned 0x3FFF0077 (The specified configuration either does not exist or could not be loaded. VISA-specified defaults will be used.)

This error usually occurs when a Passport either could not be found or could not be loaded.  All configured Passports were loaded correctly.  Try refreshing the configuration tree to find your VISA resources.  If this warning still appears, your VISA installation may be corrupted, and you may have to reinstall your software.

Possible reasons for this warning:
1. A Passport was either renamed or deleted.
2. A Passport depends on other components in your system that are no longer present.
3. Your installation of VISA is corrupt, i.e. an internal registry key is missing or changed.
4. An older installation of VISA may have caused this warning without specifying more information.  Try refreshing the configuration tree to get more information.

Please help!!!

I attempted to create drivers for a usb to serial converter and it is installed with the driver created by VISA DDW, but I have not had a chance to test it.

Thanks.

Why did you try to create a driver for a USB to serial converter? The driver you got with the device should have made it appear as a serial port in your system.

I need to use labview to control something over serial. I do not have a serial port, but I have this usb to serial converter. After reading some things, it said for me to create a driver to use with VISA in order for the device to show up in MAX. Did I interpet wrong? It is very possible. What are your recommendations for performing this task?

Setup:
Useing a usb to serial converter to control send commands to a microcontroller.

Also, is it possible to perform all of the initializations for a microcontroller with labview?

Thanks.

Creating an inf file with the Driver Development Wizard is the last option you should take. A usb->serial converter should come with a driver from the vendor and when you install this driver, the device will appear just like a built-in serial port.
