Hello again Geodo,

        The Self Test function runs the instrument's self test routine (if possible) and then returns the results.  The actual test that the instrument performs will vary greatly and you should consult the instrument's manual for more information.

If you are referring to the utility functions like IVIDmm_self_test or IVIFgen_self_test, then the command will execute whatever built0in self-test function the instrument has. Same as running the *TST command for example. To determine what the instrument specific command does, you would have to refer to the manual for the instrument.
